One of Google’s strong points when it comes to its Android devices is software. The company makes a point of seeking to offer more in this section every year, making available to its users functions as interesting as the entourage for search or quick pairing.
While these features will always come first on your newest devices, The company also takes great care of previous versions. The rollout of an update has now begun and will bring some of the latest features to the brand’s previous devices.
This is an update process that started today and should be completed within a few weeks. As always, this is done in phases, so it may not reach everyone who owns these devices at the same time. Some of them will reach all of the company’s phones, starting with the Pixel 5a.
What’s new for Pixel
First of all, the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro receive the circle function to search. This is a quick access which allows you to search for an image displayed on the screen. For now, it’s fairly exclusive to Android, and Google is only present on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S24, although it should reach more compatible devices soon. The company has also been working on improving the Instagram posting experience and will now allow you to upload Reels with 10-bit HDR quality or upload photos with ultra HDR quality.
On the other hand, the Screen Sharing application is available on all phones from Pixel 5a. It is an application that acts as a filter that allows you to limit the content that the other person can see when sharing a screen. Another new feature that arrives on some devices is Quick pairing, a function with which Bluetooth devices already paired with other devices with your same account will be synchronized so that you do not have to do it manually when changing mobile phones. It reaches the company’s devices starting with the Pixel 4a 5G and is accessible from the Connected Devices section.
The rest of the new features announced by the American brand concern the first generation Google Pixel Watch, which receives some of the most interesting functions of its successor. One of them is the breathing exercises, accessible from the Fitbit Relax application and which contribute to greater relaxation. The options available in workouts have also been increased, including auto start and stop functions, to detect both the start and end of workouts. It will be possible to configure heart rate or activity pace goals.
Finally, the brand’s watch will have access to an update to Google Maps for WearOS which will make traveling on public transport easier. Routes can be viewed on the watch, with real-time schedules and even a compass to help with orientation.
