It is very likely that throughout the day you constantly alternate between mobile and computer; it is only a consequence of modern life. Unfortunately, the two devices are independent and don’t work very well together, although cloud services like Google Drive have made things easier.

Another option is to use a file transfer app, and oddly enough, we’ve been seeing a lot of those launch lately. The latest comes from Google itself, which successfully implemented the Nearby Sharing platform on Windows computers.
Nearby Sharing for Windows is official
Nearby sharing is one of the best features of your Android mobile that you might not know about. It’s the equivalent of Apple’s Airdrop, but for Android phones; therefore, it allows us to connect two mobiles easily and without the need to install additional applications.
Nearby sharing works as easily as finding the device in a list and sharing the file as if we were opening it with an application in the mobile, using the Share menu. Although we have the limitation that the other mobile must be near, it is a great help.
Soon we will have the same, but between a mobile and a computer. Google launched Nearby Sharing for Windows computers, with a new program that can already be downloaded in some countries; unfortunately, at the moment the program is not available in Europe. However, in our testing, we were able to download the installer using a VPN.
- Nearby Share for Windows
This program is very simple and basically turns our computer into a “mobile” that can send and receive files using Nearby Sharing. Android mobiles will detect it as a device to which we can connect and send photos, videos or anything else, and from the Windows program we can receive them. We can configure the visibility so that any device can send files to us, or limit them to our devices, as well as make it visible to our contacts.
An important detail is that Nearby Share for Windows requires a Bluetooth connection, so it’s most useful primarily on laptops or desktops that have a Bluetooth adapter installed.
