Gurman has launched its new weekly newsletter with its usual trickle of leaks on the news that iOS 16 will bring usand this week he told us some very interesting things, like a new lock screen or windows on the iPad.
We’re just over a week away from Apple introducing us to iOS 16 and the rest of the operating systems. iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch are waiting for a new update that rejuvenates them with improved features and new features. Gurman has previously said not to expect a massive design changesomething we already took for granted, but there are going to be some very exciting changes that will change the way we use our devices.
If we are talking about iOS 16, the lock screen will always be enabled with the “Always On Display” feature that we have already talked about here. This feature, reserved for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, will require other system changes that will be used by the rest of the models. What good is a permanent lock screen if we can’t see any information on it? Gurman asserts that we will have new wallpapers with “widget” type functionality. Apple may not let you fully customize the lock screen, but it does let you create Apple Watch-style screens, with configurable “complications” that allow us to always have our most relevant information at our fingertips. tomorrow.
There will also be changes in the application The messages, which will have a more “social network” design that of the messaging application. Regarding the Health application, without giving more details, Gurman assures that it will bring many new features to both iPhone and Apple Watch, even if he excludes its arrival on macOS or iPadOS.
And what about the iPad? Will the long-awaited update arrive that will finally make it a valid alternative to Macs? For the moment we will have to stick to the arrival of the windows. We don’t have any more data on this, but growl says that iPadOS 16 will bring changes to multitasking and window management. This could be a very significant change in the way we handle our iPad, bringing it much closer to the experience of handling a computer.
The Apple Watch will have many changes with watchOS 9, Gurman speaks of “significant improvements to watchOS that will affect our daily use and the way we navigate the system”, in addition to the low power mode which we have already discussed on d other occasions. With tvOS, Apple TV will benefit from many other features related to the Smart Home. Ultimately macOS will include a new design for the Settings appmore similar to iPadOS, plus new designs for some native apps (Mail, please).
