It seems that for the past few months the only thing being talked about is Artificial Intelligence. ChatGPT is largely responsible, after the OpenAI organization decided to go public with its chatbot.

ChatGPT served to make us realize the true potential of this technology, and that is why now we will see it in all kinds of services and applications; yes, even on Spotify.
Spotify’s artificial intelligence
The new Spotify function is simply called “DJ”, and as its name suggests, it is used to create a selection of songs that will be played one after the other with a specific theme; but for that we already had Spotify playlists. The key feature of this function is the use of Artificial Intelligence, which will make private host for our own “radio show”
Much like a radio host does, the AI will not only be responsible for playing the songs, it will also talk a bit about each topic. Spotify claims that the synthetic voice he created is “surprisingly realistic”, and the result is like having “a DJ in your pocket”. To do this, he uses technology from Sonantic, a startup he acquired last year.
To generate the sentences the AI says, Spotify uses OpenAI technology, although it’s unclear if this is ChatGPT or another project from the same organization. This AI has been configured to generate feedback on songs being played, which is “culturally relevant and accurate”.
What he clarified is that the inner workings are based on the same personalization technology he was already using for playlists, and is able to add songs based on factors such as time of day, our mood or the relationships between artists. . .
Basically, this feature performs the same function as smart playlists. This saves us from having to search for the next song we want to listen to or create a custom list; just by clicking play, this job will be done by itself. It’s like having a personal radio, created just for us.
The new DJ feature will appear as soon as you open the app, and in the current version it takes up a large part of the homepage. Unfortunately, the DJ only speaks English at the moment, and the feature is only available to users in the US, so we’ll have to wait to use it in Europe.
