In the last power of the newsletter, Mark Gurman de Bloomberg reports that Apple is on the right track to publish the next generation of his serial chip Mr. the M5 chip will make his debut with the iPad Pro, which is currently “late” and is “on the right track” for the second half of this year. Gurman also reports that Apple will publish an M5 MacBook Pro within October / November.
Gurman refers to the iPad Pro M5 as a “chip-and-ship” model, which means that the only major upgrade of the device will be a new processor. With the iPad Pro M4 published in July from last year, Apple upgraded the display to OLED, made the device thinner and moved the front camera towards the long side, in addition to the upgrade of fleas. This does not leave a lot of updates beyond the new chip.
When the iPad Pro M5 is shipped, it could be a while before the next upgrade of the iPad Pro. Gurman notes that Apple already traces an upgrade of the M6 chip, but that will not occur before 2027. The iPad Pro M6 will also include an Apple C-series modem for wireless connectivity. Modem C1 made its debut in the iPhone 16th, and future versions will have faster mmwave performance and satellite connectivity, depending on the reports.
The M5 MacBook Pro would also be a “chip-and-nhip” upgrade. The MacBook Pro 2026, however, has a major renovation that coincides with the 20th anniversary of the laptop. In addition to the above M6, he will also obtain an OLED display and a thinner design.
The M5 should offer a gradual increase in performance compared to the M4, probably in the range of 15 to 25% in speed of the processor. This alone may not be convincing enough for the owners of recent M and MacBook Pros to upgrade, but it will offer a significant boost compared to older devices.
