When it comes to connecting our mobile phone to a smart TV, the easiest way is to do it wirelessly. Transfer phone image via HDMI cable This is also possible but for this you must have a video output from the USB-C port. This is the case of the Pixel 8 which we tested with its corresponding office mode.
It seems that the Google Pixel will become a trend for this reason: it is now the recently presented Pixel 8a which will receive the functionality via an update. Google’s new economic mobile will be video output supportyou’ll just have to wait a little longer.
The Pixel 8a extends Google’s latest decision
High-end phones, especially high-end ones, usually support wired video output. Not all, because there was one case that caught attention: Google had not yet included this feature up to Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. And it wasn’t a release, you had to update these phones to activate it.
As we read in Android Authority, the next to receive it is the new “cheap” mobile from the Mountain View firm, the Pixel 8a, which arrives on the market with a problem, mainly due to its price and the existence of his immediate older brother. .
Nevertheless, the hardware it equips and, more importantly, the software – with updates for seven years – are sufficient reasons
The interior of the Pixel 8a is similar to its older brothers, with the Tensor G3 processor at its heart. Therefore, they share certain components and therefore capabilities. However, although they support sending a video signal through the DisplayPort mode of the USB-C port, the American firm deactivated it via software.
It was like this until the arrival of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2, corresponding to update planned for June
Currently, the Pixel 8a comes with a stable release (March) based on Android 14 QPR2, which does not yet include the active option. However, when Google decides to release the June Pixel Feature Drop on this model, DisplayPort mode will be added, making it compatible with video output from USB Type C charging port.
In this way, Google guarantees that its three most recent phones have this useful connection, who knows if this is due to the arrival of a desktop mode that has been in development for some time, or simply to offer users more ‘alternatives to transport the mobile screen to others with wider diagonals.
