Slight changes from its 2022 4G version
As we mentioned at the beginning, one of the changes we see in this new Nokia G42 5G is the screen, which goes from a 6.4-inch OLED panel to a an IPS 6.56 panel. The resolution also jumps from FullHD+ to HD+, although along the way it has gained a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.
It also commits to a more modest chip, although logically compatible with 5G networks. This is a Qualcomm chip aimed at the economic mid-range, the Snapdragon 480+ that precisely dressed the Moto G62 5G a year ago. It comes with two configurations of 4 and 6 GB of RAMand a 128 GB of storage which can be expanded to 1TB using a MicroSD card.
On battery, it’s in line with what you’d expect from virtually any smartphone today, with a 5000mAh capacity
In the cameras, at least on paper, things don’t change much from its predecessor. Decrease the resolution of the front sensor with 8 MP and retains almost identical benefits behind. 50 megapixel main sensor and two already known companions, a depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro each.
Regarding the software, it comes with Android 13. The news here is that according to the manufacturer, is guaranteed for two years of updates both at the system level and with security patches.
Its trademark is reparability
The star novelty of this mobile and which follows the line that Nokia seems to want to establish is that it can be repaired by us.
In the case of the Nokia G42 5G, they say tools and parts can be requested for repair screen, replace battery or USB-C port. Of course, you will have to order the parts separately if necessary and pay for them, as it is not a free service, nor in the Nokia G22.
