We spent a few days using one of the latest Nokias, a device from the smartphone system to provide us with an unusual product, a cell phone that encompasses everything we miss from old phones and other beauty features. It's a group that draws attention from the first moment.
Nokia 800 Tough It is a mobile that has the obvious weakness of being apart from all the modern applications. However, having valuable communication tools, its resistance to its enormous battery that lasts for a week makes it a unique device that does not disappoint as a work traveler or transport you to the most remote places in the world.

A week without a smartphone: this has been my experience
For a week I had no smartphone to remember what this job was like before. What do I remember the most and the least?
It is designed to withstand extreme conditions
Nokia 800 Tough is an unusual phone. It belongs to the category of mobile phones on foot, those are meant to be very resistant. It's a heavy mobile where plastic and durable rubber are made. A mobile phone that remains firmly in hand.
But we should not be so scared if we end up falling. According to Nokia itself, the 800 Tough is able to withstand problems without falling to 1.8 meters without difficulty. Nowadays we've put you to the test by throwing it over and over again, where no issue was found.
In addition to fall protection, it has a military certificate of standard MIL-STD 810G protection and IP 68 protection, which can be 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. Its protection is also allowed to be buried under the sand without any problems, though it is important that its SIM card openings, charging port and headphone jack remain locked properly.
We have a torch dedicated to it that although it doesn't have much power, it is still an invaluable tool.
The terminal has a dedicated ring so we can tie the cord to any tightening system, something unusual but given the phone's identity itself is amazing.
A cellphone that has learned a lot from a smartphone
Nokia 800 Tough doesn't use Android, but the operating system called KaiOS, is similar to what we've seen in other Nokia phones. This app is designed to offer extra features to this type of mobile that is without trying to compete against smartphones, integrating some of the most important features.
I would say that one of the most important is that we have WhatsApp, although it's important to remember that it's a basic version of the popular messaging app. We can read messages, view photos, videos and emojis, as well as listen and send audio messages.
What I really liked about this version of WhatsApp is that it does not include the ability to link our account via a Web server to a computer. Typing messages with a numeric keypad is also a lot of fun, so in the end you can talk using audio messages or voice calls.
Because we have a beautiful, precise voice description provided by Google Assistant. Did you think Google Assistant was special for Android? Well, that's not the case, even though the experience has finished dropping us due to a number of limitations.
Of course we didn't expect him to be a very skilled assistant, but it was that Google Now of 2012 was a great resource. And we can't ask you to set alarms, or timers, or turn off the lights or send a message to WhatsApp. It only works to ask about time and make calls.
We have Wi-Fi, 4G and tethering. Having a high speed internet doesn't seem to make sense since we don't have huge applications to use all this technology. But at least it works to share our interactions with competent devices, such as a computer or tablet.
And we can forget GPS and Google Maps as a map app. We can improve routes but we won't have a GPS navigator, but we will have to manually follow the stages.
We can connect our Google and Outlook accounts to sync your contacts, email or calendar.
Some programs are enabled and very useful:
- Calculator:
- Voice recording:
- Music Radio and FM: Thanks to the headphone jack
- Others: Version Converter
The battery is about a week
In addition to being extremely resistant, the battery is one of the biggest features of the Nokia 800 Tough. At first you might think that its 2100 mAh won't offer much, because it's part of what the current smartphone has. However, the following should be considered:
- Screen: screen of such reduced size and quality consumes far less than a smartphone screen. Keeping in mind that a screen is a very useful component, here it has a lot of savings.
- Simplification of the program: KaiOS is not Android, and that a more limited system in the works also affects power consumption is reduced.
- That convenience makes us use it a little: this is also a key, and if you don't do many of the tasks you do with a smartphone, you won't. If you use it sparingly, the battery lasts longer.
With all this, the battery stays in full charge seven days of work I've been checking in on all mobile functions, in addition to the equal use of WhatsApp, calls and Google Maps, and also syncing calendars and email.
Probably the biggest use of this mobile phone would be the use of shared communications and phones, and if used too much of this technology the battery could be reduced to three working days. As each situation is very specific, it's not possible to find the exact time, but it can guarantee that it takes longer than any Android.
Camera from a decade and a half ago
We won't talk too much about the camera, and basically because there is not much we can say about it. We have 2 Mpx advanced quality sensors that remind us of the early years when the phones that had the phones had cameras.
You can check out the pictures we took for us. It's a camera that is available for more note taking (such as a poster text) than photos you want to share or remember in your gallery.

Why is this mobile
Nokia 800 Tough is a cellphone that costs less than 120 euros, which is the price for which you can get smart-end-low-cost software with a very capable application. However, this Nokia is playing in another league to be a versatile communication tool without a rival, a very compact size and a few days of battery life, offering high reliability on specific tasks.
The cellular performance of certain tasks when the smartphone does not provide the required resistance guarantees seems like a stellar product. And as a second mobile to take you to the sea, mountain anywhere. Worrying about the breakup is no longer a concern.
