Apple bet really big on one of Apple TV+’s most successful original content and now its investment in sci-fi has turned into drama
This is Apple TV+’s largest production. A colossal giant of gigantic proportions which, like an abyssal black hole vortex, completely swallowed up all of Apple’s economic investments. We’re talking about the sci-fi series “Foundation”, the only series capable of matching the majestic narrative of “Dune”.
“Foundation” or “Foundation” launched its second season during the summer period of 2023 on Apple TV+. Currently, it is one of the most critically acclaimed series.. But unfortunately, his production is not going through its best moment.
Already at the beginning of February, we announced that, faced with this economic dilemma, the “Foundation” would have to reduce its titanic budget in order to move forward. As an immediate consequence of this untimely whirlwind of events, the filming of the third season of “Found ation” was delayed.
“Foundation”, the Apple TV+ series whose investment collapsed into a cold and abysmal black hole
“Foundation” is a science fiction series inspired by the award-winning novel of the same name by Isaac Asimov.. It tells the story of a civilization that has conquered other worlds and, under the rule of the Galactic Empire, is on the verge of falling into chaos. A group of exiles create a foundation to save humanity and rebuild civilization.
Coming back to the topic at hand, the third season of “Foundation” was delayed due to financial issues related to its production. Apple is said to have invested 5 million dollars for each episode. In total, $50 million per season.
The production of this majestic science fiction series was also interrupted throughout 2023 due to the controversy strike of Hollywood actors and screenwriters.
In addition to the predictable budget cutsthe third season will be affected with readjustments and changes oriented to respond to new economic vicissitudes.
According to information from the Hollywood Reporter, the co-creator of the series David S. Goyer will now send scripts from Los Angeles while Bill Bost will produce at the main filming location in Prague, Czech Republic.
Plot of the new season of ‘Foundation’
David S. Goyer himself wanted to announce that the upcoming plot of the third season of “Foundation” would bring together a network of new and old characters in this epic civilization with 12,000 years of history.
I’m thrilled that Apple has given us the opportunity to continue telling Asimov’s pioneering galactic saga. This time around, the stakes for Foundation and Empire are even higher, as Mule takes center stage, alongside fan favorites Bayta, Toran, Ebling and Magnifico Giganticus.
‘Foundation’ Season 3 Release Date
Sources close to the filming of “Foundation” have suggested that Production would resume during the same month of February 2024.
But the actors and other members arrived in Prague and Poland for the filming of the series, they were sent home.
Filming for the third season is still in its early stages. The Apple TV+ science fiction series I would have only filmed a third of the season.
So, if in principle we expected the premiere of the third season of the series around summer… with the delays due to economic problems we may have to wait until fall 2024as soon as possible, to see it.
Other sci-fi series on Apple TV+
Fortunately, Apple TV+’s catalog of original content offers other great alternatives while waiting for the premiere of the third season of this superb science fiction series.
“Silo,” one of Apple TV+’s best series, was rumored to be about to be canceled due to production issues, but finally resumed filming its second season.
And now, on top of that, Apple has just released “Constellation”. A true gem with a sublime setting capable of rivaling genre authorities like “The Expanse” and offering absolutely moving and emotional performances.
