The AI revolution on mobile was started by Samsung and its Galaxy AI, a platform made up of several apps and tools based on artificial intelligence. Many of these features were launched on Samsung Galaxy S24 phones even before the Google Pixel, including one of the best: Circle to search.
As the name suggests, Circle to search (or ‘Circle to search’ in English) allows you to draw a circle anywhere on the screen. The AI will detect what we have selected with this gesture and perform a search or display an associated utility.
For example, we can circle a text in a language we don’t know, and the mobile will translate it automatically. Or we can circle a product we saw on a website and find online stores that sell it.
The version of Surround to Search on Samsung phones looks similar to Google Lens on Pixel phones; after all, it’s based on the same Google platform and machine learning models. However, users claim that the Samsung version is faster and more powerful. The possibilities are many, especially since it’s getting better over time; but among Samsung users, only those who owned “premium” mobile phones could take advantage of it.
That ends today, with Samsung confirming it has launched Surround to Search for 25 million additional Galaxy devicesamong which are the mid-range and mid/low-range models, the Galaxy A. The update process began this week, and little by little it should appear for all users; To do this, we must first install the August update on our mobile, if we have already received it.
Specifically, the models that will receive Circle to Search are:
- Galaxy A34
- Galaxy A54
- Galaxy A35
- Galaxy A55
- Quantum Galaxy 4
- Galaxy S21 FE
- Galaxy Tab S9 FE
- Galaxy Tab S9 FE+
As we can see, not only the Galaxy A series phones received this feature, but also the Galaxy S21 FE. And if, also Galaxy Tab S9 FE tabletswhich shows that Galaxy AI will be as important in this format as it is on mobile phones. The Galaxy Tab S10 leaks show that AI functions will be adapted to tablets, and we expect more news in this direction with the upcoming launch of One UI 7, the new version of the customization layer based on the new Android 15.
To activate Circle to search, after updating the mobile, we must press and hold the bottom navigation bar, which will take a screenshot in which we can circle the part we want to know more about.
