The North family of OnePlus already has one more member: the Chinese company has just officially presented the OnePlus Nord 2, or what amounts to the same, the second generation of the original North. This new mid-range 5G model combines some characteristics of the brand’s flagship product -the OnePlus 9- with other more basic ones to keep the price below 500 dollars.
Among these legacy features we have, for example, a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging and the Sony IMX766 sensor from 50 megapixels on the rear camera. For the processor, as expected, OnePlus customized the Dimensity 1200 announced by MediaTek earlier this year.

Flat screen TV and MediaTek brain
The first thing that stands out about the new OnePlus Nord 2 is its 6.43-inch AMOLED flat screen with a FullHD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. In addition to having an integrated fingerprint reader, this panel is able to go from sDR quality to HDR quality thanks to the processor and from HDR10 to HDR10 + in time real.
At the controls of this terminal we find the Dimensity 1200-AI processor that OnePlus has optimized in collaboration with MediaTek using artificial intelligence; depending on the brand, it is 22% faster than the Dimensity 1000 with less consumption. It comes with two RAM options (8 and 12 GB) and two internal storage (128 and 256 GB). It also highlights its game mode to more effectively manage the temperature of the phone and prevent overheating.
Regarding the software, the OnePlus Nord 2 launches a new version of the manufacturer’s coat (OxygenOS 11.3), which optimizes gestures and scrolling on the screen. OnePlus has also promised two years of Android updates and three years of security updates.
Premium camera and battery
Integrated into the screen hole we have a front camera with a 32 megapixel Sony IMX615 sensor and f / 2.45 aperture. The rear camera, meanwhile, has a Sony IMX766 50 megapixel main sensor
This camera can detect up to 22 types of scene and has an improved night mode, both due to the larger size of the larger sensor and at the software level (thanks to artificial intelligence). As well can record 4K videos at 30fps, has a hybrid stabilization system and a dual display mode that combines the images obtained by the rear and front cameras. Soon it will also include a Pro mode for video.
Another important feature of the OnePlus Nord 2 is its battery, which has a capacity of 4,500mAh and supports 65W fast charging. Depending on the brand, it is capable of fully charge in just 30 minutes and obtain 70% energy in just a quarter of an hour. Its dual speakers and dual WiFi 6 and 5G connectivity also stand out.
OnePlus Nord 2 versions and prices
Although in the presentation they were also shown in green, the new OnePlus Nord 2 will be available in Europe in two colors (shiny blue or matt gray) and in two configurations depending on RAM and internal storage:
