Since its first appearance in 2015, PowerPhotos has continued to offer features that Apple does not provide photos for MacOS, making PowerPhotos a must for people who want to make the most of the Apple application. The photos are improving with each version, but the developer Brian Webster continues to update PowerPhotos to compensate for what is missing, improving past features and adding refinements. Version 3 brings some key upgrades as well as large performance bumps.
Updating the application, at a price of $ 39.95 for new users, includes new and improved capacities such as bulk editing metadata (such as titles and keywords), using models to apply increasing meters and other spaces reserved for media groups, seeking and desperate photos through several photo libraries, and manipulating the media and albums In the application as if you are using photos. Advanced research options exceed the smart file options of photos
Heights a gap in the photos that Apple has still not filled
Consider Apple's photos as a basic package at one end of the media management spectrum and the current Adobe Lightroom (in two versions) as an advanced option at the other end. (Apple opening has been used to participate.) Photos offers a library organization and, with many improvements over the years, photo editing; Lightroom has both, with much more sophisticated means to modify and shape images, as well as more flexibility in the way the media is organized and stored.
For users who do not need all the advanced features of Lightroom and such as the conviviality and the deep integration of the Apple operating system, PowerPhotos 3 provides an affordable set of extras. It natively works with the format of the Apple Photos library, so you don't give up what you like in the photos. PowerPhotos has no image editing tools, leaving this territory to Apple and third -party autonomous applications.

PowerPhotos fills the gaps in the photos by allowing you to work with and around libraries better than the photos work with only one. Since its launch, PowerPhotos has been the only way to merge libraries and drag and drop media from one library to another. If you maintain or want to create several photo libraries to manage your collections or divide a massive library into smaller parts, PowerPhotos remains the only tool that provides the management features you need.
Version 2 has added powerful dedosplication so that you can delete identical or almost identical images with many options to control the proximity of a correspondence you have made, reducing the use and confusion of storage on the image you want. Version 3 extends de-Dupe in all the libraries you select.
The new version is added to the previous ability to copy albums and media from one library to another the option to move albums or media instead. To avoid media losses during the move, PowerPhotos uses the gold standard of the copy first of the elements in the other library before deleting them from the original.
More powerful search for research and information in bulk
The Keystone characteristics of PowerPhotos 3 are an advanced set of research options and the addition of multi-element metadata (or “in bulk”), which allows you to modify the title or the legend associated with your images or photos using tokens (such as the year, the pixel height or the place name).

You will recognize the configuration of the search functionality from the way Apple structures intelligent files, albums and projectors to find. You can define several criteria, the nests and choose whether to do each set of nested all required criteria (like “more than 1 MB and taken in Italy”) or allow only one to correspond (like the album “Italy” or the album “France” or the album “Liechtenstein”). The criteria for this research include several that are not available in photos, such as file size or the height or width of a photo.
The research can be recorded so that you can reuse them later. You can also choose to search for a single photo library or in several libraries, by taking more use of the division of your media between libraries without making more difficult to find what you want.

The option of bulk modification metadata should not be underestimated. Apple's photos offer the inspector component, which allows you to define the title, keywords and other parameters for a set of images and photos (or one at a time). However, the Apple tool lacks tokens, which can be held inside when the title or the reformulation of the legend. Even more robust, PowerPhotos 3 includes a tokens counter, which automatically increments from one from the first selected photo or video of your set. (I have already turned to a better finder attributes for this.)
You can use this bulk mounting to transform a lot of files named IMG_1733 without legends in those entitled with a text, such as “Trip to California”, followed by the date or time of any arrangement that you like, and even the place name. For legends, you can include a lot of useful additional details when revising the photos, including the exact time in seconds or the height and width of the pixels. The modifications are previewed in the miniature view.

The bulk publisher includes the edition of keywords, allowing you to select from a list of all the keywords of the library or to add yours. The developer has also updated the application so that all metadata work can be carried out without your hands leaving the keyboard.
More minor updates that are always useful include a photo browser and a more complete photo viewer in the application. Almost all the operations you can perform in photos, such as album management and the moving media, can now be carried out inside PowerPhotos. A new photo viewer allows you to see images in the application instead of using the MacOS fast look window. The application has had notable speed improvements with the loading of libraries and image visualization.
Should you buy PowerPhotos 3?
If you are blocked by limitations in the photos, do not waste a second before getting PowerPhotos. This is an application that completes the photos in a basic and advanced way, unavoiding an otherwise unavailable power without sacrificing compatibility with the format of the Apple library.
