The battle in the Android world is set for a year 2023 in which, if all goes according to what has been leaked, we will not have a maximum exponent of the Samsung catalog. There won’t be a full-powered Exynos, although there will be a Dimensity 9200 that was showcased a few days ago. Also a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 formalized today under the sun of Hawaii.
Unsurprisingly, Qualcomm has printed its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with all the power it has. This means that the new processor is a beast in terms of processor, graphics, artificial intelligence and even connectivity. Because yes, Qualcomm also brings us WiFi 7 and something new, Dual 5G with two SIMs connected at the same time.
Put on clean clothes, the 2023 flea battle will be exciting
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 comes on top of everything, offering the same Cortex X3 core in front of its CPU, although something changes from MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200. Qualcomm chose to split its second cluster into two, offering two Cortex A715 cores and two Cortex A710 cores. This means that the two most powerful clusters will only run 64-bit applications while the other two will be able to run 32-bit code. This reduces consumption and increases power.
Qualcomm’s new Adreno graphics card seems to be able to display 25% more power at the graphics level, and on the way to energy savings. And with the new Hexagon for artificial intelligence, added to the dual Tensor chip, we will have up to 4.35 times more power for code machine learning than its predecessor. Qualcomm has taken the path of artificial intelligence and it shows in its creations because we even find it on board the Snapdragon X70 which brings us 5G (double and with two 5G lines at the same time) on board the processor.
When it comes to photography, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will make it possible to build cellphones with 200-megapixel cameras that will be capable of record 8K and HDR video at up to 60 frames per second. By the way, don’t forget to mention that mobiles with this chip will support laser trace native graphics engine and Unreal Engine 5.
We said the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 supports two 5G lines at the same time but also Wi-Fi 7 with up to 5.8 Gbps to navigate with reduced latency. We will also find WiFi 5.3 in its configuration. Qualcomm’s new processor will also offer lossless 48kHz wireless audio and support Quick Charge 5+. As we can see, quite a paragon of power to stand up to the Dimensity 9200 in its bid to dominate the Android world of 2023.
