The limitation operated by Musk on Twitter causes a massive migration of users to other alternatives such as Mastodon, an open source, which just updated a few days ago to totally redesign your experience and thus attract users who are disillusioned with the decisions made by the CEO of the micromessaging social network.
The juggernaut app offers another alternative to Twitter and the same launched by its co-founder, BlueSky. Even Meta is already on the verge of announcing the launch of Threads, which is Instagram-based but threaded enough to be a good bite to eat in the face of the disaster that the Musk-owned social network is becoming.
Mastodon was updated on Android with Material You design language and a significant series of new interface features that improve the user experience. Eugen Rochko, CEO and Founder of Mastodon, posted all the update news on his blog. A platform that currently has 1.4 million monthly active users according to the data offered by the same company.

It is not bad at all when Twitter now has 2.5 million of active users, so there is a rush from Mastodon to improve its app so that it continues to catch the eyes of many disillusioned users. And it was precisely Rochko himself who announced that last weekend 294,000 users entered his platform with increasing daily activity.
improved experience
The new Android app features bring to the table a series of customizations with a renewed settings screen. users can change the default language for posting, add alt text to the media you upload and even control the visibility of your posts with the “boost” and “favorites” counters; he equivalent to the retweet function the Twitter.

Additionally, Android users can now access server-specific information and its associated directives; a very important aspect for the decentralized social network infrastructure for which Mastodon stands out. This update brings new features to the profile section by introducing previously absent featured content into the app. Understand pin posts, featured hashtags and supported users.
Another bonus feature is the ability now given to users to filter content based on words and thus profile the application with these filters. The ability to temporarily disable notifications has also been added. Mastodon has found another way to make a verified profile appear away from Twitter’s blue tick by linking users’ websites to Mastodon profiles. THE verified profiles are now more visible in search results, so it avoids that problem that many had when it came to finding profiles of popular people.

Mastodon is available on Android through the Google Play Store, as is other alternatives such as Tusky, Megalodon, Felilab or Toots. This big Mastodon update is a big difference in experience for the Android user base compared to iOS, so if there was ever any doubt about whether to jump on this platform, it’s now. the best time to do so.
