If you have a task list this weekend, we have another item: update your iPhone, iPad and Mac. An update was published this week which corrects a vulnerability identified for the first time in December 2023.
According to Apple's publication notes, the corrective affects iOS 18, iPados 18, MacOS 15 and Visionos 2, as well as Safari 18 for users of MacOS Ventura and MacOS Sonoma. The version notes indicate that updates include unknown bug corrections, but the big reason to update is a single security update on all devices:
- Impact: The artisanal web content may be able to get web content sandbox. This is an additional solution for an attack that has been blocked in iOS 17.2. (Apple is aware of a report that this problem may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on the versions of iOS before iOS 17.2.)
- Description: An out -of -limit writing problem has been resolved with improved checks to prevent unauthorized actions.
- Webkit Bugzilla: 285858
- CVE-2025-24201: Apple
Apple is recognized for discovering the defect, which was initially corrected on December 11, 2023, with iOS 17.2 and MacOS Sonoma 14.2. We do not know which Patch Webkit has corrected the original vulnerability.
So far this year, Apple has set three zero days, which are defined as faults that were previously unknown. Although Apple's language implies that this threat has been used in targeted attacks, you must certainly update your devices if you have not already done so.
