The arrival of a 27-inch screen has long been surrounded by doubts, and although the leaks that are arriving now speak of delays, they at least remove part of the mystery regarding a presentation date. Ross Young thinks we’ll see her in Octobereither as a standalone product or integrated into a high-end iMac.
If the factory can’t work, we find another factory
Young, who often has good screen industry sources, believes that Apple intended to showcase the front screen (including at WWDC 2022). But this one was made in Shanghai, a city that has been under heavy restrictions for weeks due to an outbreak of COVID-19.
For this reason, Apple would have decided move panel manufacturing to another location
A 27-inch miniLED display can lead to a much improved image quality profile, including 120Hz refresh rates as we’re already seeing in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. we could see it in a kind of “Apple Studio Display Pro”
For now we will continue to wait. WWDC can bring us surprises in the form of Materialbut rumors don’t point to a big-screen iMac among them.
