Yesterday the Samsung Developer Conference or SDC took place, where we expected One UI 7.0 to be made official. In the end, this was not the case, since the launch of One UI 7.0 is planned for next year, although the conference made it clear to us that there would be One UI for a while. Additionally, Samsung plans integrate your entire software experience under the One UI name.
Today, One UI is the name of the Android layer of Samsung phones and tablets, but starting next year we will also see this name to name the software experiences of the main product lines. such as cell phones, televisions and household appliances.
A user interface for everyone and for seven years
Samsung wants unify the name of your software experiences to use One UI, which until now was only called the personalization layer of mobile phones on Android. Here’s what he said at the SDC conference in San Jose, California:
In addition, the company announced that it will integrate the software experience of its main product lines (mobile devices, TVs and home appliances) under the name One UI next year. Deliver a consistent product experience and commit to software updates for up to seven years. In this way, Samsung will continue to offer innovations to its customers.
This change will not happen overnight, but rather This will become a reality over the next yearand we will surely learn more details about which operating systems receive a new name or not, because for now the details are somewhat scarce.
Currently we find One UI as the name of Android on Samsung mobile phones and tablets, but the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch7 has “Wear OS Powered by Samsung” and Samsung smart TVs are launched with “Samsung Tizen OS devices like the Galaxy Buds Pro”. 3 headphones do not have their own operating system mentioned in their technical sheet. In the future it would all be One UI.
This is not an isolated maneuver since Other tech companies have opted for similar moves. One of the first was Huawei with HarmonyOS and Xiaomi is also following a similar approach with HyperOS.
