Last July, Samsung announced its new generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Flip6, but everything seems to indicate that this year the South Korean giant will have not only two foldables, but three mobile phones of this format.
The third model will be an ultra-thin version of the Z Fold6which according to rumors and leaks will be called Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim, and the company would present it next September. Among its changes, there will be an even thinner body on the phone, something very important for a foldable, a better selfie camera, more titanium and, most likely, a higher price than the Z Fold6.
Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim: ultra-thin, better cameras and titanium
The great advantage of foldable cell phones is that they can offer two experiences on the same device: a smaller screen and a larger screen. In the case of foldable “book” devices, like the Galaxy Z Fold, this translates into the possibility of having a cell phone with a traditional screen that transforms into a sort of tablet of almost 8 inches.
But that also means that, logically, these phones are much thicker than a traditional smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold6 is 12.1 mm thick when folded and 5.6 mm when opened. Samsung wants to reduce this thickness even further with the new Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim model, which according to leaks will only be 10mm thick when folded.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is said to be 10mm thick, thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6’s 12.1mm. The company is expected to unveil it in September
As part of the development to reduce the thickness of this ultra-thin mobile, the company would have developed a titanium back cover that would come on the back of the mobile. In this way, Samsung would add more titanium to the body of the device, which It also helps you reduce your weight
Another major change that would come to the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is that it would have a better camera under the screen. Samsung’s Z Fold foldables feature two front-facing (or selfie) cameras: one on the external display and one under the internal display. The Z Fold6 has a 4MP sensor under the display, like the previous two generations of foldables, but the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is said to have a 5MP sensor, according to information published by Galaxy Club.
Samsung is expected to introduce the new Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim this coming September. This variant of the company’s foldable mobile phone will be available first in South Korea and China, and for now it is not known when it will arrive in the rest of the world, or if Samsung will wait for a next generation of the ultra-thin variant of the Z Fold to bring it to the rest of the world. Regarding its price, it is estimated that It will go on sale for around $2,100. at the exchange rate, which is about $200 more than the Galaxy Z Fold6 given its price in dollars (in Europe its price is 2,000 dollars).
Other rumors that have emerged in recent months mention that Samsung is also working on a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Fold, but for now the only model that seems to see the light of day is the “Slim” model. Hopefully in 2025 we will see a cheaper alternative that will spark the interest of even more users for foldable phones.
