Looks like, WhatsApp is working on an app update that “will let you send high-quality photos”. When sending the photo, we can choose between sending it as before or sending it in its original resolution. It is true that there are tricks to send videos and photos by WhatsApp without losing quality from the iPhone, however it would be easier if it was an option in the app itself.

You should keep in mind that this option is still in development and that it won’t launch for some time via an update to the official WhatsApp app. Before, it should reach the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, where it is not available at the moment.
