Those looking for quality content related to science and the arts have a new streaming platform to join: the recently launched CaixaForum+. This kind of “Netflix” of science offers multitude of series, documentaries and podcasts playable on smartphone. And totally free.
In the increasingly comfortable realm of streaming, we have real heavyweights when it comes to varied content. Obviously, one of the first names that comes to mind is Netflix, one of those who laid the foundations of what the platforms should be. HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ are three of its main competitors: all offer themes for all audiences and all tastes. But what if we are strictly looking for content related to science and the arts?

It has just been born and already gives a lot to say: CaixaForum+ is launching with the mission of enrich anyone with scientific and artistic concerns. Based on the museum network’s close relationship with audiovisual content, the new streaming platform offers a varied and high-quality catalog with no other access points than an account on the service.
As is the case with other streaming platforms, CaixaForum+ offers a separate catalog by theme that covers the aforementioned areas: science and culture, in all the arts.
All content is in Spanish, is created by experts in the field, is produced by CaixaForum itself and also includes related videos and podcasts from other production companies. The result is a catalog that’s a fair bit given its short lifespan, but more than enough to cultivate knowledge for dozens of hours.
CaixaForum+ has an Android application and also offers access to its entire streaming platform from the web. The only condition is to create a CaixaForum+ account: you also don’t need to be a La Caixa customer and no subscription is required. All the content is free, it can be played on the smartphone screen, the video and audio quality is good and, as the main drawback, it is not compatible with Google Chromecast. Curiously, in iOS CaixaForum+ allows sending with AirPlay, we hope that the platform will add Chromecast in future updates. In addition, there is no app for android tv.
The smartphone app is now available on the Google Play Store. It is free to download, does not require a subscription to use and does not include advertising.
