One of Google's most used apps is one that goes unnoticed, Gboard. It is standard on all Android phones in Europe, with a few exceptions, such as those from Samsung, which have their own keyboard (with artificial intelligence functions). But even in Korean models, many users prefer to use the Google keyboard because of its reliability, the typing speed it allows, or simply because they are already used to it.

This application is one of the foundations of the Google ecosystem because it integrates perfectly with other services, has a built-in clipboard and even allows you to take full advantage of foldable cell phones. And there are many tips to get the most out of it, but the more hidden shortcuts are rarely discussed.

These are keys that do not indicate that they have a second functionas seen in many others, in which if you press it one character appears and if you hold it another one appears. It's strange because it's possible to highlight these secret features, but Google doesn't highlight them. These are not shortcuts to actions that will change our relationship with the mobile phone, but they will certainly improve the use of this application.

The first shortcut is in the point punctuation key. If we press it we can write this symbol, but if we hold it down it will give us access to the most used symbols, whether or not they are on other keys. We will have exclamation symbols, question marks, parentheses… And all this without having to look for where the opening symbol, the closing symbol, etc. are.

The second shortcut is in the comma key. If we hold it down, the shortcut to settings will appear, but also another more important one that will significantly reduce the size of the keyboard, so that it can be used with one hand. We can even move it left and right later. The same shortcut is on the Enter key, which also opens the same shortcut to the compact keyboard for one-handed use.
