If you’ve ever used the Steam platform to buy and play games, you’ll know that from time to time the app asks you to (anonymously) submit your Mac’s specs. It’s completely optional, but it’s Steam’s way of getting an average of the specs of computers its users have.
The results of these surveys are usually made public, and it’s a good way to see which computers with Steam installed are the most common (we can even filter it by platform and see the most used Macs). Well someone sent the specs of two Mac models that don’t officially exist yet
They will be released in 2023, but they are already being used to test games
Here is the list of the most used Macs in the survey, where we can see the models ‘Mac14.6‘ and ‘Mac15.4‘ in penultimate and penultimate position:
These model codes do not match any currently sold Macs, suggesting that someone in Apple Park is using Mac models awaiting release on Steam. Perhaps to test games that test the performance of these machines, which must have chips prepared to be able to run these games in good condition.
Coincidentally, the ‘Mac14.6’ model is also mentioned in one of the leaked Geekbench tests a few weeks ago, pointing to an M2 Max chip
We could talk about a new Mac mini M2, or a Mac Studio, or even some MacBook Pro, it’s to see what Apple has in store for us with a new range of refreshed computers that should see the light of day at the start 2023 after waiting so long for them in October, as in November.
