Anker offers us its new Soundcore Q45 headphones with a superior noise cancellation and sound quality than its price might lead us to imagine.
Soundcore, the sound brand of Anker, continues to bring us products with great features in exchange for a very reasonable price, and the new Q45 over-ear headphones are a great example of that. Active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint technologycertificates for high resolution audio and a battery that gives it greater autonomy are some of its most outstanding features, which we analyze below.
Design
Currently only available in black, they will soon be available in other colors such as navy blue and white. These are over-ear headphones, which completely cover your ears. Its design is quite sober, nothing that stands out, which in my opinion is a positive thing in headphones. They are mostly plastic. which makes them very light and comfortable. It fits head sized teeth well and doesn’t squeeze even in those of us who are larger than average. The hinges are made of aluminum alloy, which improves its durability.
A hard case is included in the box for storage and transportation. To introduce them you have to bend them, as little as they are allowed to bend. This means that the case is large, but in return we avoid hinges and other moving parts which are ultimately weak points where they can end up breaking. This Apart from a good build quality, there is no doubt about its durability.
The cups of the headphones are practically round, with Soundcore logos on both, but not flashy. The pads are very soft, covered with synthetic fur., and they fit perfectly in your ears. The physical controls of the functions of these headphones are shared between the two cups, as well as the USB-C connector and the jack input. There are also the microphone holes.
physical checks
Soundcore continues to opt for physical controls on its Q45 headphones, and on both cups there are several well-distributed buttons. In the right earpiece we have the button to control playback, which if pressed twice will launch the virtual assistant of our smartphone, in the case of the iPhone, Siri. He also has the volume controls, which are also used to move forward or backward. In the left earphone we have the power button, which also has the function of activating the pairing mode to tell our device. We also have the button to change the different sound modes (transparency, cancellation) and bass boost.
We don’t have touch controls, which are impractical in headphones this size, and we also don’t have automatic ear detection, so that if we remove the headphones, the playback will continue. It’s one of the few things I miss about these headphones. The controls are also customizable from the Soundcore app (link), which is always appreciated.
Sound quality
This is one of the highlights of these headphones. Very good sound quality at all frequencies. Out of the box they have a balanced sound, with relevant bass but without forgetting the rest of the frequencies
It also highlights its noise cancellation, frankly good and with automatic adaptation to external noise, since the intensity of the cancellation does not have to be the same in the metro as in the office. With active cancellation, the sound does not suffer any loss of quality, which is evident in most models of this middle class. Transparency mode lets you hear what’s going on around you clearly without having to interrupt playback, and its intensity can be customized. Both features more than meet expectations.
Of course, it has the option of being used hands-free for phone calls or for video calls, and the sound quality you hear and transmit with its microphones is more than adequate. There are also no complaints about the volume of the sound
Multipoint and autonomy
Headband headphones have the advantage of being able to accommodate bulkier materials compared to regular button headphones, but these Soundcore Q45s stand out. anchor points up to 65 hours of battery life if you don’t use undo, or 50 with it active. Difficult to verify such a long autonomy, but because of the use I made of it, the accounts come out. You will completely forget to charge them, but don’t worry because every time you connect them, a sound will tell you how much battery is left. And if you find yourself with the unpleasant surprise that they are running out of battery, with five minutes of charge you will have four hours of playback.
Another very interesting point is the multipoint connectivity which allows use them simultaneously on two devices. It’s not that they automatically connect to one or the other, it’s that they connect to both, so you can play a movie on your iPad and answer a call on your iPhone, without waiting time, without touching the buttons.
Editor’s review
Anker continues to do very well with its Soundcore brand, offering headphones with high-end features at mid-range prices. With mid-range materials, sound quality, noise cancellation, and battery life are more typical of much more expensive headphones, making them a great option for many users who don’t want to spend a lot but have high demands. Its price is 149.99$ on Amazon (link).
