Among the many novelties of Android 13, one of the most appreciated is the new media player, which not only changes its design but also includes new features accessible from the lock screen.

Thanks to this, Android works better with wireless speakers and headphones, allowing us to switch between devices directly and without having to get lost in the menus. Unfortunately, only YouTube and YouTube Music, the two Google services, are compatible with this new feature.
Alliance between Spotify and Google
It is therefore surprising that Google has now formed an alliance with Spotify, which is undoubtedly YouTube Music’s main competitor; but it is good news for users, who can now enjoy the benefits of Android 13 with Spotify.
Specifically, Android 13 now supports Spotify Connect, the feature that lets you stream music through other devices, such as internet-connected smart speakers. In this way, if we play music with Spotify, we can now use the new Android 13 player and select other devices from which the sound comes out.
At CES, Google showed how its engineers worked with Spotify to implement Spotify Connect in the Android 13 media player; By clicking on the button that shows the name of the connected device, a list of devices with Spotify Connect will appear and we can choose the one we want and vary its volume.
Another novelty related to sound reproduction will allow us to take our music with us everywhere, thanks to a new notification system that will notify us if they find a nearby device on which we can change.
For example, we can start listening to a recording in our car with Android Auto, and when we arrive at our destination, a notification will appear telling us if we want to continue listening on our headphones; in the same way, it will also appear when we return home, which will allow us to switch to our smart speaker or our television with Android TV.
