IOS 18.4, the latest update of Apple's iPhone software seems to contain another major bug or a group of related bugs. Several users driving several car brands say that iOS 18.4 has caused serious problems with Carplay, in some cases, making it completely unusable.
At the sweetest end, users complain that Carplay Post-Update no longer displayed game information in the dashboard.
“Before, the music played on Carplay would also appear on my dashboard,” explains the author of a busy reddit wire. “Since I have updated 18.4 today, it doesn't do it anymore and is just empty now.”
Others report problems with Siri via Carplay, either not be able to read texts or completely lose audio capacities. And at the most extreme end, Carplay simply refuses to get started until users reconnect their devices, sometimes up to five times.
The bug is not specific to any brand or car model, so we can exclude a problem at this level. The self-evolution, which has broken the story, says that it is aware of the problem affecting “The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, the 2025 Mazda CX-30, 2024 Hondas, several Volkswagen models, the Audi S3 2023, and the Nissan 2023 border” and I also spotted the territory and the Fiesta, the 2020 Subaru for the territory and Fiesta, 2020 Subas for the territory and the Fiesta, the 2020 SUBAS for JUP FIL DISCOVERY.
This is an embarrassing development for Apple, after iOS 18.4 would also have caused problems with loss audio on the Max AirPods (although this has since been repaired) and unwanted applications appear unexpectedly on user iPhones. To a certain extent, these bugs are understandable because 18.4 is a major update with many adjustments and new features: before these bugs begin to appear, we have listed optimizing 15 reasons to install it immediately.
If Carplay is an important part of the use of your iPhone, we would now advise caution; It may be useful to wait for Apple to recognize the bug and deploys a correction before updating. If you have already installed iOS 18.4, keep an eye on another update (probably 18.4.1 or similar) which could contain a correction. Open the Settings application and access General > Software update To see the latest version available.
