One of the best games that ever was, and still is, was Tetris. It didn’t have spectacular graphics and it wasn’t about saving the world either, but it was very addictive and you could easily spend hours playing this game of Russian origin, without flinching. The pieces had to fit together to move forward. Each new screen meant that the speed at which coins dropped increased. To the point that it was almost impossible to place the pieces correctly. So again and again. If you’ve played it, you might know what I’m talking about and if you haven’t, you might think it’s a mediocre game, but you should play it. The game was so important that a movie was made and right now you can watch it on Apple TV+ because behind this game there is a power struggle between the two most powerful countries.
Imagine the Cold War between the United States and Russia. Now imagine that the Americans want to get the commercial rights to one of the most successful games of the time which was created by a Russian. The tensions are served. It is no longer just about getting the best price for the exploitation rights. It is a matter of state.
This movie is not based on the game itself. The movie actually feels more like a biopic. Follow Henk Rogers (played by Taron Egerton who previously starred and appeared on Apple TV+ thanks to Black Bird) on his quest for Russia team up with the inventor of Tetris, Alexey Pajitnov, in order to secure the rights to the game.
The film is already available via Apple TV+ and if you subscribe you will be able to access it without problems via any compatible device with Apple Pay TV.
