The AirTag 2 will be more secure and precise than its predecessor!
Apple is ready to once again revolutionize the way we find our lost items, with the second generation of AirTag. According to renowned Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, the second generation of its popular tracker will arrive next year with significant improvements in range, thanks to its powerful components.
Thanks to the Ultra Wideband chip that debuted in the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, those at the bitten apple plan to present a device with three times greater range, as a main feature, compared to its predecessor. Of course, this is not the only novelty, there is also another related to security, which is one of the main criticisms addressed to the device. We tell you everything below:
Greater range and precision
One of the most notable features of the new AirTag will be its greater range. Thanks to the incorporation of the second generation U1 chip, the AirTag 2 will offer unprecedented location accuracy. This technology, known as Ultra Wideband (UWB) will allow you to locate lost objects with greater precision, even in enclosed spaces or with multiple obstacles.
Enhanced security
Apple has demonstrated a strong commitment to the privacy and security of its users. In accordance with this philosophy, AirTag 2 will include additional measures to prevent malicious use. The built-in speaker, key to locating the device, will be more difficult to remove, making it difficult for unauthorized users to track.
Integration with other Apple devices
The new AirTag promises closer integration with the Apple ecosystem. It should work more seamlessly with devices like the Vision Pro mixed reality headset, although specific details are still unknown. This integration could open up new possibilities for using the AirTag, such as locating objects within virtual spaces.
Design and battery
Regarding the design, The AirTag 2 should retain a similar aesthetic to its predecessorwith a compact and discreet size. However, there will likely be internal changes to accommodate the new hardware.
Compared to the battery, the format of the buttons will be preservedsimilar to the current model. Although a rechargeable battery would be a welcome feature, Apple seems to have opted to keep this solution for now.
Release date
AirTag 2 is estimated to hit the market in mid-2025. Although this date may be changed, it is an indication that Apple users will not have to wait very long to take advantage of the improvements offered by this new device.
AirTag 2 represents a significant advancement in object tracking technology. With greater range, enhanced security and deeper integration with the Apple ecosystem, this device is positioned as an essential tool for locating our assets.
