We’re still hungover after the inaugural keynote of the Google I/O 2022. This event was used by Google to present news of all kinds. From the long-awaited Pixel 6a to a preview of the Pixel Watch and even the Pixel 7. In between, software news for Android 13 and native apps.
Apps like Google Keep fall fully into the latter area. This, despite being one of the best notes apps on Android, still lacks features. Google has not officially announced any relevant changes, but from 9to5Google they have already been able to find out as much as possible long-awaited change
A base of any text editor for Google Keep
It is always necessary to know how to differentiate a text editor from a note application. The first is used for more complete writing, with all kinds of formats, the possibility of adding images, tables, graphs and all kinds of elements. In the second we find some useful applications for quick notes or to always have specific data at hand. However, that doesn’t mean a note app can’t drink the essence of a text editor
It is in this area that the more than foreseeable novelty of Google Keep moves and it is that the application would add text in bold, italic, underline or strikethrough. An extremely simple and easy to apply function, but extremely useful for highlight note content. And no, despite being something so banal, Google Keep did not (and currently does not) offer this possibility.
As revealed by 9to5Google, version 5.22.182.00 contains the following references to this format change in its code, coinciding with that of other Google applications such as Documents, Spreadsheets or Presentations.
Everything leads us to believe that we will finally be able create notes that are not pure plain text on Google Keep. Although, as they warn of the aforementioned support, this function is not yet available for everyone and will probably be introduced via an upcoming update via the Play Store. In the same way they point out, correctly in our opinion, that it should also reach the iOS version, although there are no indications in this case yet.
