This year Apple launched on the market four iPhone 16 models with excellent features and technical specifications, including some improvements to its cameras. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max now have an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 48-megapixel sensor. And that makes photographic results better than ever.
In fact, they even have a new Camera Control specially designed to take photos and videos faster and which integrates technical settings for zoom, depth effect, photo styles and much more.
If you received a new iPhone for Christmas, you might be interested to know some of the photography tips which we will share below. Your Instagram photos are going to be amazing!
iPhone Camera Tips
No matter which iPhone model you purchased (or received as a gift), you can take advantage of these camera tips to give your photos and videos the visual look you've been looking for. Although, obviously, some features are not available on older generation iPhone models.
Just a macro
Macro mode is one of the most notable features of the latest iPhone models. We are totally hooked! Adjust the camera zoom to deliver high-resolution images within inches of any object. And the results are fascinating.
The iPhone's macro mode is automatically activated when you move the camera closer to an item, displaying a flower symbol in the lower left corner. But if it doesn't appear and you want to turn it on or off manually, go to Settings > Camera > Macro Control.
The vertical format
Lately, with the rise of social networks like TikTok or Instagram, the format of vertically oriented photographs and videos has become fashionable. But because of this, some of the photos you take with your iPhone in an upright position don't always fit perfectly. And it's horrible when there are empty spaces above or below the images. Or even worse, the image gets crowded from the sides and details are lost when publishing the content.
To adapt perfectly to the vertical format of social networks you must use 16:9 aspect ratio. But the default aspect ratio of the iPhone camera is 4:3. To change it, follow these steps:
- Open the app Camera.
- Access mode Photo.
- Swipe up on “Photo.”
- press the button 4:3 and choose 16:9.
Keep your favorite settings
There is an option that will allow you to save certain settings of your photos like camera mode (you can open it directly in Video instead of Photo), controls, photographic styles, depth control or macro mode, among others.
- Access to Settings.
- Enter Camera.
- Then go to Keep settings.
Group photos with the ultra wide angle lens

This Christmas, you'll probably have to take a lot of group photos with your brand new iPhone. To do this, the ultra-wide-angle lens will come in handy, allowing you to capture larger scenes in the field of view.
To use the ultra-wide-angle lens in your photos, press the button 0.5 located in the lower area of Photo mode.
