More than a decade later, Apple finally brings a native Calculator app to the iPad in iPadOS 18
Have you ever, after purchasing an iPad, found yourself looking for the Calculator app? Good, 14 years later, on iPadOS, a native application will arrive as it is naturally found on the iPhone. According to a source close to MacRumors, the app is already being considered for iPadOS 18 and will be compatible with all updated iPad models. Several third-party apps on the App Store are so popular because of the lack of a native calculator on the iPad.
Calculator in iPadOS 18, it’s not a drill
Just google the amount of ridicule and references that exist from long ago where Apple is exposed for not including a tool as simple as a calculator on the iPad. The decision and the time it took Cupertino to include it in the operating system dedicated to Apple’s smart tablet are surprising.
Oddly enough, this rumor coincides with one seen last week where it was reported that macOS 15 would see its Calculator app renewed with several new features, including integration with the Notes app. What is most striking is a window of different adaptable sizes, a sidebar with a recent history, among an important renewed design..
Calculator app between iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 could be related
It might be a coincidence but if Apple is working on a native application like the calculator, Changes expected for macOS could also be seen in iPadOS. The redesign is probably one of the changes that will undoubtedly come for both operating systems. The current design of macOS dates back to macOS 10 (Yosemite), so it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple overhauled its calculator interface.
The new versions of the operating system will be presented during the main event of WWDC 2024 on June 10, and in all likelihood the first developer betas will be released on the same day. Many users will be eager to try the latest from Appleparticularly in AI with iOS 18 if those of Cupertino surprise.
