WhatsApp is an application used by more than 2 billion people worldwide to communicate with their friends, family and even work colleagues. That’s why the company continues adding new features and tools to improve the experience of using the app, such as improvements for video calls and many options to protect our privacy.
Now, WhatsApp has implemented a new tool intended for group users: it is a new way to organize events and meetings with members of a group
Events in WhatsApp groups to organize meetings, even if they are virtual
The global launch of the new tool was announced by WhatsApp on social networks, through a publication on its official account on X (Twitter). This is a feature that started affecting some users a few weeks ago, and was first available to community users, but is now launching globally: All WhatsApp users on Android and iPhone can use the new tool to create group events
Here’s how we can use the new tool to create WhatsApp events:
- First of all, we enter the WhatsApp group in which we are going to organize a meeting or event
- We press the paperclip icon next to the bar to write messages
- Now we press the “Event” button
The next screen prompts us to add event details: name, description, date and time, location (if it’s an in-person meeting), and call link. This last option allows you to create virtual events, for example to carry out a video call with group members.
Contacts who are part of the group will receive the invitation and the person responsible for creating the event will be able to check who has confirmed their attendance and who has not.
As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, originally this feature started reaching users of WhatsApp communities first, but now it is available. available for all groupsso now you can start using it to organize the next meeting with friends.
