We could see big changes in the range of iPhones in the coming years. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo went from saying two weeks ago that the iPhone SE 4 had an uncertain future to outright stating that Apple I would have decided to cancel it permanently.
The rumors we had read about this iPhone SE 4 for some time predicted big changes for the terminal: the Home button with Touch ID would disappear and its size would increase to 6.1 inches. Basically, it would have adopted the look and shape of an iPhone XR.
The own 5G chip, possible culprit of the decision
According to the source, Apple wanted to take advantage and test your own 5G modem on this iPhone SE 4. The model would have served as guinea pig, to see if the chip worked well and thus be able to adopt it in the most expensive and professional iPhone models. But the performances of this chip would not have been those sought.
And now that there’s been this apparent change of plans, Apple has reportedly decided keep trusting Qualcomm as a 5G modem provider for all iPhones. In the end, therefore, we would have one less iPhone in the range and a supplier happy to continue doing business with Apple.
If we remove the iPhone SE from the range of mobiles available at the moment, the cheapest models that can be purchased (officially) are the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 mini for 809 dollars. The alternative of an iPhone SE at 559 dollars disappears and many customers with basic needs are left orphaned.
Would Apple fill this gap somehow? You can always make the iPhone 13 mini the cheap alternative, or just keep selling older models like the iPhone 12 at a more affordable price. But if Apple wants to sell cheaper phones, it is clear that the disappearance of the iPhone SE will lead to changes in your strategy.
