The change does not represent an improvement of the Gemini service as a personal assistant on Android: once the application is installed from Google Play, the phone will ask to change the main assistant (Google Assistant) to the newly downloaded one.
The interaction with Gemini is similar to what we had until now with Google Assistant. We can invoke it with “Ok, Google”, launch it with the power button (as long as the shutdown menu is not configured) and open Gemini from the installed application. The effect is the same: a lower floating window that opens while the assistant listens.
