Leaker Majin BU, which has accurately shared certain details of the upcoming iPhones in the past, has published a new article with a little more information on the telephotctive camera of the upcoming iPhone 17. As with the current iPhone range, only pro models should present the telephoto lens.
According to its latest Intel, the telephoto lens camera will include a new 48 MP sensor – This part has already been reported by several analysts. What is new is the detail of the focal distance. Instead of a 5x zoom (120 mm) as on the iPhone 16 Pro models, or the 3X (77 mm) zoom of certain previous models, the 48MP telephoto of the iPhone 17 Pro will include a 3.5x (85 mm) zoom.
It is a slightly more natural zoom to take pictures of portraits, one of the advantages of the Telephoto led less in 3x zoomy on the old iPhone Pro models.
But, like Apple fact with the 48 MP main sensor today, it will allow a 2x reframing zoom using only the 12 megapixel center of the sensor. Thus, the iPhone 17 Pro can also take 7x (160 mm) 12 MP of plans with perfect optical clarity. Of course, the digital zoom will extend the beach beyond that.
This is therefore the new detail here: the telephotto camera of the next iPhone Pro model will go from a 5X 12MP camera to a 48 MP 3.5x camera with an “optical reframing zoom” capacity as current iPhones can do it with their 48 MP wide camera today.
The iPhone 17 Pro should arrive at an event in September alongside a new member of the iPhone range, the iPhone 17 air. Stay listening to all the latest rumors with our superguid iPhone 17.
