Good news for dedicated users checking out future USB connection specs. One has been announced actualization via USB-C which will allow a throughput up to 80GBps, said the announcement was made by USB Promoter Group. The most interesting thing is that Apple could pay attention to it and include it as a future technology for the iPhone 15
An important step forward combined with the future of USB, the switch from Lightning to USB-C with higher speed in the iPhone 15
For several weeks, the subject has been the transition from the next generation of iPhone to USB-C. The EU has confirmed that from 2024 this move is mandatory for Apple and other companies. Benefits result in better speed for devices such as displays, storage, hubs and all C-based ports.
The main changes of USB4 2.0
About the 80 GB/s that we talked about at the beginning, there are also other updates translated into improvements that will undoubtedly provide a better experience. The mentioned 80 GBps is based on a physical structure using existing 40 GBps passive cables.
Potential USB4 will have backwards compatibilityfrom version 1.0 to 2.0, 3.2 and up to Thunderbolt 3. Any USB4 based product will have no problem connecting and interact with a precedent. It will also be updated to align with DisplayPort and PCIe versions.
We will have to wait for other announcements and advances to have a possible arrival date. and that other brands start working on it. For now, it will be for developers which can perform performance tests and notify any errors.
