Whether or not the iPad can replace a MacBook often depends on what you do. For students and professionals, the higher display of the iPad Pro, the Apple pencil and portability have made it the ideal productivity system. It worked for me; I obtained my university degree and I worked as a television script translator while counting only on an iPad. However, anyone with a more complicated workflow beyond reading, research, writing and illustration as I will not find the iPad an appropriate platform for work.
Today, the flagship iPads pack the Chipsets of the Apple M series, similar to those who feed the latest Mac – IPADs are powerful. These are the iPados that prevent the tablet from being really a viable option to a MacBook. Ipados 19 should approach some of these shortcomings by improving multitasking, productivity and window management. It seems great, especially if Apple brings these nine macOS features to really unlock the full potential of the iPad.
Break the Manila of the App Store
In the Apple ecosystem, MacOS is the only Apple operating system which officially allows users to install applications from sources other than the Apple App Store. If an application fails the ruthless screening process of the App Store, developers can always distribute it independently. This allows Mac users to install third -party applications that do not necessarily comply with Apple guidelines.
On the other hand, users of iPados outside the European Union are currently limited to the selection of applications available on the Apple showcase. If your workflow depends on a non -compliant or niche application, there is no simple way to get it on your iPad – a dealbreaker for many. To really correspond to the flexibility of the office, iPados 19 should support the direct installation of the application.
Improved window management

The macos strength is its window management, which goes beyond what the iPados offers with the organization.
Mahmoud Itani
While iPados are currently taking charge of the re -united application instances via the stage manager, the functionality is too limited compared to the management of Mac windows. The execution seems wobbly and pushes me to use the traditional fractionation view and to slide on multitasking features. The iPados 19 should make multitasking more practical by adopting a macOS type approach which is completely optimized for the company's tablet.
Multiple user profiles
Another essential feature is the management of several user profiles on iPados. Apple has already built and dispatched this functionality, but it is limited to iPad managed by educational establishments. The company could make it effortlessly available for all users, but it chooses not to do it. This makes it difficult for family members to share a single iPad, as you cannot easily separate the applications, data and individual parameters.
Improved cursor
Another iPad discomfort is the swollen cursor when using a mouse or trackpad. For those who are not familiar, the iPados cursor is much greater than that of MacOS and has a magnetic effect which draws it towards user interface elements. This is fully planned, because iPados are an operating system touching tactile with large targets to accommodate human fingers. Although with the iPados 19 and MacOS 16 which adopted similar looks, it is now Apple's chance to finally develop a more intuitive pointer.
Improved integrated applications
Since iOS and iPados have separated, Apple has distinguished its own iPad applications with new interclinances exclusive to larger screens. But functionally, these applications continue to imitate the iPhone and its limits. Thus, the functionalities of macOS, such as intelligent reading lists in Apple Music and the navigation of system files in Finder, are absent from the iPad. To attract Power users, iPados 19 should upgrade system applications by carrying some of the unique Mac offers.
Extended working environments

An iPad who could take charge of several monitors and workspaces like a Mac would make a more viable workstation.
Mahmoud Itani
Speaking of power users, the iPad Pro M4 Premium always limits you to a single external monitor. Meanwhile, the Mac support several desktop screens and computers. This allows users to jump between different sets of open applications by creating several environments with distinct arrangements depending on the tasks on which they are concentrated. Without these functions, iPados remain a terrible platform to do serious work.
Compatibility with Mac software
The most high -end iPads now use the same processors as Mac. However, although MacOS can execute many iPad applications (it is up to the application developer to allow it), iPados cannot run Mac software. Therefore, those who rely on exclusive office applications, such as Xcode, cannot completely abandon their Macs.
Likewise, those who have already bought life licenses for Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro on MacOS cannot access these tools on their tablets without paying recurring subscription fees for mobile editions. Apple could realistically achieve this limitation and extend the iPad application library by taking charge of Mac software on iPados 19.
Continuity characteristics
The Mac offers special continuity features that work perfectly with iOS. With MacOS Monterey 12, Apple added the management of the aircraft reception, allowing you to launch supports from your iPhone to the larger display of the computer. And with MacOS Sequoia 15, the company has introduced the iPhone Mirroring application, allowing users to fully control their iPhones, to see iOS notifications, etc. These two features are missing in iPados, tracing its potential.

Mahmoud Itani
The other macOS exclusives that prevent many users from switching to iPados are iOS management tools. Macs allow you to save, restore or update an iPhone using a wired connection. Although new iPads can repair your wireless brick iPhone, they are unable to create local backups on the full disc. Likewise, they cannot update the operating system of your iPhone when it does not have enough storage to download the package in the air.
Temperament expectations
I have made peace with the fact that most of these features will probably not go to the iPad of soon, if never. Apple knows that adding them could cannibalize mac sales, as fewer customers would feel inclined to pay more for a real computer.
The iPad seems to be stuck in limbo, and I find it difficult to understand where it is heading. It is undeniable that each annual update of the operating system makes the device a little more powerful. In any case, its software features continue to underperform compared to Windows tablets. I had great hopes when the stage manager was announced for the first time, to be disappointed by the same main set of the limitations shortly after trying it. For this reason, I am skeptical about the iPados 19 which significantly increases experience. I think that the iPad is condemned to remain a stretched iPhone with a fantasy brand just to fulfill quarterly profits.
