The iPhone 16 will also have a textured matte back

According to new rumors from China, for the next iPhone 16, Apple will adopt the same pastel-colored textured matte rear glass that entry-level iPhone 15 models already feature. Last year, Apple introduced a “dual ion exchange glass” process on entry-level iPhone 15 models that gives the rear glass layer a blurred, textured effect that contrasts with the color of the main frame.

For the first time, Apple introduced (and finally) a matte back in the entry models, with a somewhat different effect than the back of the Pro, something Apple described as follows.

For the first time on a smartphone, color is infused across the entire rear glass, creating five beautiful colors. The rear glass is reinforced with an optimized dual ion exchange process before being polished with nanocrystalline particles and etched to create a Luxurious textured matte finish.

According to Weibo leaker “Fixed focus digital”, who claims to have seen the color palette of the iPhone 16, Apple will use the same process for the rear window of the new models, which could come in seven colors this year instead of five. (something that remains to be confirmed, since it would be the first time that Apple has made such a move. If you ask me, I personally think that fewer colors will arrive, but let’s not lose all hope).

Late last month, another Weibo source suggested that Apple could extend its dual ion exchange glass process to the back of the iPhone 16 Prowhich is expected to have the same titanium frame as the iPhone 15 Pro. However, the latest leaker does not mention the Pro models of the iPhone 16, and. the two Weibo accounts have not yet established an accurate history of rumors about Apple.
