2027 is the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, and it seems that Apple has large plans in store. Bloomberg's information and Mark Gurman reported that Apple would considerably rethink the iPhone with an iPhone curved mainly in glass (which will follow the release of the first folding phone from Apple). On Wednesday, an Electronic Times report brings a little light on the screen that will be used.
Apple plans to use “four -sided flexion display technologies” which would allow the display to wrap around the edges of the iPhone so that the phone has no telescope. Apple also plans to implement a OLED display pilot chip based on a transistor process with a final field effect 16 Nm (finfet), a change from the planar process 28 Nm currently used. The implementation of Finfet will improve energy efficiency, but it is not clear if this translates into a longer battery life or if the power requirements of a flexion display on four sides and the treatment of the AI compensate the gains.
According to the Electronic Times report, Apple can meet the energy requests for the new phone. Current lithium-ion batteries have a graphite anode, but the iPhone 2027 could use a battery with a silicon anode instead. Silicon anodes store more lithium ions, resulting in higher energy density and a longer battery power capacity.
Previous reports have indicated that Apple makes an effort to design this iPhone without any screen cut or minimize its use. The information and analyst Ross Young previously reported that Apple provided most ID sensors under the display. The information also indicated that the phone would have a small cut for the front camera, a cutting that would be smaller than that in the form of a pill in the current iPhone. It is not clear if Apple would always offer the dynamic functionality of the island if the cutting of the shrinking camera.
