The M2 Max chip will be (much) more powerful than previously thought

chip, Max, powerful, previously, Thought

The M2 Max chip is more powerful than we thought a few days ago, this leaked test proves it.

Apple is expected to launch its New MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsdevices that were a few months late and should arrive at the beginning of 2023. And the proof is that the benchmarks of the new processors are already starting to leak, with more power than expected.

Just a few days ago a benchmark test of the M2 Max chip in Geekbench 5 was leaked, we could see a pretty significant power boost there, but now a new test of the same chip has surfaced which shows that It’s more powerful than we thoughtwith a power increase of up to 22%.

The M2 Max chip demonstrates its power

New Geekbench 5 leak test shows that we are faced with a chip that has evolved a lot, actually a little more than the M2 compared to the M1. The single-core score is amazing, achieving a very noticeable improvement in the multi-core score as well.

This new test comes from a device identified as “Mac14.6”, this is a previously non-existent Mac model. The CPU is identified as Apple M2 Max and has 12 cores with a frequency of 3.68 GHz and 96 GB of RAM. Here are the results :

  • New M2 Max test: 2027 single-core and 14888 multi-core.
  • Previous M2 Max test: 1853 single-core and 13855 multi-core.
  • M1 Max testing: 1755 single-core and 12333 multi-core.
M2 Pro and M2 Max

The first data of the M2 Max chip is filtered

And we compare this data with the M1 Ultra chip of the Mac Studiothe most powerful chip ever designed by Apple, it reaches 1787 on single core and 23817 on multicore. That is to say that although in the multi-core test it is far behind, normal given that the M1 Ultra has twice as many cores, in the single-core test we see a marked improvement.

We are facing an extremely powerful chip, Apple has managed to significantly improve the power that its cores reach individuallysurpassing 2000 points in Geekbench 5. That’s an incredible score, especially since it’s a MacBook Pro, that is, a portable device.

The next MacBook Pro will have “another level” of RAM

It is to be hoped that this M2 Max is accompanied by an M2 Ultra, with the same power on a single core but twice as many cores, so it will almost double the score on multi-core. 2023 brings us big news in terms of Apple chips.
