The new Google Photos widget displays your favorite animals and people on your mobile home screen

Widgets are all the rage again, and Google Photos debuted the Your Memories widget, which saves old photos from oblivion. It is a simple yet highly customizable widget, as you can choose between different shapes and sizes. It’s also now choose which people or animals appear.

It’s officially the second Google Photos widget, which predictably calls itself People and animals. It works exactly the same as the existing widget of Your memories

Google recently upped the stakes with its second widget, called People and animals, which already appears to be available to all users. It’s exactly the same, but being able to control which photos are displayed: they must show the person or animal of your choice.

To do this, the first step after placing the widget on the mobile home screen is choose faces. It can have up to 10 faces, so there is some flexibility: for example, you can create a family, friends or pets widget. Or, if you want it to be even more personal, just show off the photos of your dog Pancho, as the rest of your photos are probably irrelevant in comparison.

The next step is choose the frame, where there are six ways to choose today. Remember that you can also change the size of the widget to make it bigger or smaller, and it will fit properly. Thereafter, the widget will update with a new photo periodically or each time you tap on it to view it larger.
