Oh Twitter… what are you doing? Since Elon Musk bought you It seems like you just make bad decisions. First you make the verified badge meaningless, then you force multiple outlets off your platform, and now you lose your top advertisers.
Let’s be clear, you’re not doing it right. You may think so, but no. And just because I say it doesn’t mean I’m just a publisher. It’s that when Apple, Microsoft, and a whole host of companies with more value and benefits than you let on, maybe you should consider it.
It’s possible to fix it, but you need to act now
A few days ago, it was announced that Microsoft would remove Twitter from its advertising platform on April 25. This comes in response to the change Twitter has made in accessing its API with which intended to charge companies $42,000 for access.
apple too could be about to leave the social network of Elon Musk. In fact, because it was there, it was even close to removing it from the App Store, it seems. At some point he decided to quit advertising, but Elon managed to convince Tim Cook after an express trip to Apple Park to come back. All very professional.
If Elon promised anything by buying Twitter, it was that he would remove all bots from the platform, and he didn’t either. At least I still see them relatively frequently. Users are getting fed up with all this nonsense in which what was once the preferred social network on the Internet has become.
Alternatives such as Mastodon or Bluesky are already emerging. It’s normal. When there are so many users dissatisfied with Twitter management, a market of people who want something similar, but new, is created. Companies know this and are jumping into this space, and while now it shouldn’t pose much of a danger, Elon should be careful and analyze this a lotAlthough I’m sure you already are.
Anyway, Twitter, and I’ll get back to you, all is not lost. Give users what they ask for. Try to please the companies, which are the ones that keep you, instead of throwing them away. Get the verification badge back to what it was. You have become a man’s experience who is very bored, and it changes you for the worse. You can try to fix it, or you can’t. It’s in your hand.
