Netflix has competition under the stones. In many cases, these alternatives to Netflix offer a catalog centered on one or more production companies, but we are also seeing the emergence of platforms which, for example, only offer content of one genre.

AnimeBox is another example of a specialized platform that intends to steal viewership from Netflix by only offering anime series, i.e. Japanese animation. It is therefore a direct competitor of Crunchyroll which remains the main reference in this sector.
The “Netflix” to watch anime
AnimeBox comes from Selecta Visión, one of the largest anime distributors in Europe. It is thanks to this that it normally obtains a large number of licenses for new series which until now were found on other services. It looks like the company saw potential and today announced its own service.
The AnimeBox catalog will therefore consist of both classics among classics, as well as the latest from Japan. The official announcement shows parts of series such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, Attack on Titan, Mazinger Z, Demon Slayer, Digimon, One Piece, Inuyasha or even Ranma 1/2. We also see parts of films like Akira, A Silent Voice and Evangelion.
This content will be available with Dubbing in Spanish, in addition to the original version with subtitles. It is expected that the second option will be the only one available in “simulcast” series, that is, they will be released at the same time as when they air in Japan.
Although the available titles have not yet been officially announced, we won’t have to wait long and the company has confirmed that it will present it on launch day, March 23rd.

What we do know is that AnimeBox will be available in several versions depending on how we want to enjoy our favorite series. It has been confirmed that there will be a app for android
Anime free or with subscription
One of the coolest things about this service are the subscriptions, as not all of them are chargeable. In fact, we can create a free account on AnimeBox, called “Konnichiwa” which will give us free access to “simulcast”. It’s unclear if this option is ad-supported, although we imagine it will be. We can also access the rental service of the platform to obtain films temporarily. We can only connect to one device at a time.
We will also have three paid subscriptions. The cheapest, “Tomodachi”, it costs 5.99 dollars per month, and in addition to simulcast access, we’ll have access to the entire AnimeBox catalog, except for movies marked “premium.” We maintain the limitation to a single device.
The second subscription is “Sensei”, for 7.99 dollars per month, and it is the most complete, since it offers us access to both simultaneous broadcasting and the whole catalog including all movies. The number of devices is also extended to two.
Finally, the “Kami-sama” subscription is identical to the “Sensei”, with the difference that it is annual. We have the same advantages, but it will cost us less in the long run because it is priced at 79.99 dollars per year (so we have two months free). On the occasion of the launch, it offers an offer that reduces the price by 50%so we can get a year of AnimeBox for only 39.99 dollars.
AnimeBox will be available from March 23.
