the ipad is the best-known and best-selling tablet in the world. It’s the industry standard, and it shows. When comparing an iPad Pro with an M2 chip to any other tablet on the market, this one wins in every section. Well… in all but one.
iPads have everything but a calculator. It is certainly curious that in 2023 there is a device with these characteristics that does not have, as standard, a simple application for making mathematical calculations. Apple never included it, and today it has become more of a meme than a problem in itself

The most natural reaction to this situation is usually to wonder why an iPad wouldn’t have a calculator. After all, Apple is a very calculating and meticulous company.and surely such an important decision has an equally important rationale behind it… right?
The reason is as simple as it is curious: in 2010, when the iPad was launched, Steve Jobs asked to see it before it was announced. Upon entering the calculator app, which had been included in this prototype, he concluded that it was simply an iPhone resizing. After that, just a month after the official launch, asked for a redesign or the iPad would be announced without a calculator
Maybe it’s a matter of tradition, or maybe Apple still doesn’t like this redesign, but 13 years later, we still don’t have a calculator on the iPad. We don’t know what the future holds, but there’s one thing we can be sure of: if the iPad ever came with a calculator, it wouldn’t be just resizing, it would be doing what everyone done, and let’s remember that our friends at Apple are more than following that of Think differently.
