No more deleting messages, rewriting them and making everyone aware of the error. WhatsApp is already preparing the function to modify the messages sent, in the style of Telegram and other messaging services. The proof was found in WABetaInfo through some screenshots of WhatsApp betas.
Correct a message on WhatsApp without having to delete and rewrite it
In these screenshots we can see how editing a message in WhatsApp is reduced to click on an option menu and choose the option to edit the message. It doesn’t seem to indicate when a post was edited, but I wouldn’t rule out that in the final version there is some sort of indicator.
There may still be many changes, since a first sign of this function was seen about five years ago. Maybe they would like to apply it in the past, but agenda must have prioritized other features. Gradually.
At the moment it is not known when we will be able to enjoy this edition of messages on WhatsApp, but hopefully we will not have to wait long. At the end we have a season with highly appreciated novelties in the service, such as reactions in messages. We will continue to look forward to more updates like this that raise the bar for WhatsApp and bring it closer to what we can already do with other services.
