You can be an Apple fan even in the world of series and movies. And I’m not talking about seeing a character using an iPhone or a Mac, there are thousands of such examples. i mean this character actively praising the benefits of Apple products or a fictional company that satirically imitates or criticizes Apple.
And the praise goes everywhere: from specific products like a PowerBook from years ago to the company itself to the arrival of the original iPad. We are going to see the most popular examples that we could find.
Phil Dunphy (“Modern Family”)
In the 19th episode of the first season of ‘Modern Family’, Phil Dunphy he accepts that he couldn’t get hold of one of the brand new iPads that Apple launched while he’s driving home. What he doesn’t know is that his family was able to buy one and surprised him.
Lisbeth Salander (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”)
In the version turned into a film, he does not stand out, but the protagonist pirate books by Stieg Larsson praise PowerBooks time when you need to buy a new computer:
In terms of hardware, it was the Rolls-Royce of computers, but what sparked Lisbeth’s need for it was the simple feature of having a backlit keyboard so she could see the letters even in the dark. Such a simple thing. Why hadn’t anyone thought of that be fore?
In the films, Lisbeth uses a MacBook Pro adapted to the era in which it was produced.
Raj (“The Big Bang Theory”)
In this case, we have no love for a specific product, if not for the Siri assistant itself. It was the central theme of one of the episodes of this series which reached historic audiences around the world.
Lisa Simpson (“The Simpsons”)
The daughter of the world’s most famous family visits an Apple Store (or “Mapple Store” in this case) but is disappointed: she only has money for headphones. But a stroke of luck makes it possible use a “MyPod”, which results in a bill of thousands of dollars for buying too many songs digitally. Poor Lisa ends up working as a publicist to pay off the debt generated.
Fry and his companions (‘Futurama’)
Matt Groening doesn’t just ridicule Apple in his most famous series. In ‘Futurama’, we see all the protagonists queuing to buy an ‘eyePhone’, a kind of iPhone that is implanted in the eyes and ears. In the sequence we can see all the experiments of the tail and the origin of the same “Shut up and take my money!”
Meg (‘Family Guy’)
The teenage daughter of this animated series confesses to a young man from an Amish community that she “you wouldn’t know what to do without your iPhone”.
Forrest Gump
In ‘Forrest Gump’, the protagonist of the same name doesn’t literally confess his affinity for the brand, but he does. “invest in a fruit business” with which he obtains great advantages. You’re not a shareholder without having some fondness for the brand, which we assume you’ll discover more fully later.
‘Blank check’
We mentioned it about ten years ago: the boy who is the main character of this film of my childhood must really like computers, since uses the name “Macintosh” when impersonating an adult in a telephone conversation.
