Apple TV+ is a curious service. Singular. Not a day goes by and I don’t feel like watching one or two of the shows that appear on the cover. I would like to have the time available to be able to see them, which makes me very demanding when it comes to invest my time in a new series.
A few days ago a relative asked me why I was paying for Apple TV+ if there was barely a catalog. I replied the same, saying that There are five Apple TV+ series I would never cancel my subscription to. And I will surely keep it as long as they continue to be (and exceed) that level.
‘Severance’, the cover that becomes the series of the year
What a crazy series. A success that I never thought would have such an impact on me. I started seeing her alone, almost in secret, during sheer curiosity. A science fiction series taking place in an office and nowadays? As a former consultant for De la Torre Picasso, he had to see this.
After two episodes, I insisted with my wife that we watch it together. You couldn’t miss such a work of art. My partner Miguel López has already said it
It’s hard to talk about her without doing spoilers. The best thing I can say about Severance is that I still think about it and talk about it months after I finished it. In search of twists, implications, possible outcomes and unravel the details. It’s been ages since that happened to me with a series, maybe the last time was with Lost. Separation season 2 is also confirmed. As long as the actors’ and writers’ strikes allow.
For all mankind, the long road to conquer space
I admit that stories of alternate realities freak me out. And here, ‘For All Mankind’ take the cake. In the first season, you realize as soon as the episode starts that something is going on down. And it is that the Soviets land on the Moon before the Americans led by Neil Armstrong.
In this series, we explore what would have happened if the space race hadn’t stopped. What if the Russians and their Soviet Union they wouldn’t have collapsed like a house of cards in the late 80s? Space travel, moon bases, adventure and also war.
Even though sometimes I think it’s going too far in the life of the charactersThis is a series that entertains beyond the usual. Highly recommended, with a third season on the way right now.
To return before nightfall, a curious bet
A curious girl sometimes too wise end up conquering the public? The answer is Hilde Lisko, a precocious New York journalist who ends up returning with her family to her father’s hometown, a journalist at heart. Here there are no nightmarish monsters or dark worlds below ours. But that doesn’t mean a small beach town doesn’t have its skeletons in the closet, either.
Hilde learns that a friend of her father’s was kidnapped when he was little. Right under your nose. And little by little, it’s assembling pieces and discovering contours of a story that is not at all predictable. A real breath of fresh air after so many series of unsolved crimes. All three seasons of “Home Before Dark” can be viewed at once on Apple TV+.
‘Acapulco’, a series that gives good humor and without great pretensions
Sometimes it’s good to take a break from the horror stories, space travel and fleas that split our personality in half. And it’s only on rare occasions that he finds the perfect series. Well, if you haven’t seen Acapulco yet, I don’t know what you are waiting for.
Located in one of resorts the best known and oldest in Mexico, Acapulco focuses on the comings and goings of Máximo Gallardo. Gallardo begins working at Las Colinas, one of the most popular hotels in the area, which he will use to grow on the path to success.
It reminds me a bit of the ‘Red Oaks’ series, a tennis club with plots similar to those of the resort. And it has a touch of How I Met Your Mother, as Máximo Gallardo himself tells his nephew. when you are already an extremely successful businessman
‘See’, a great series, better to see
I know that in recent years there have been dozens of bets on post-apocalyptic futures. And what more can a story do? die of boredom more than one. If you have a set standard against these types of stories, I suggest (please!) you try ‘See’.
The world is left in ruins, because if it were not so, there would be no dystopian future. Humanity has been decimated and its survivors are blind. The few who were born in the past with the curse of sight they were quickly slaughtered. All? No! A group of them manage to survive, protected by Jason Momoa (let’s see who’s bothering him).
But what’s new about this series is how well thought out the plot is and how realistic it exudes. someone dedicated a lot of time and effort think about how the characters would move in a hostile world. How they would survive harsh North American winters in cities. And how they would communicate between the different enclaves (those messages as knots in the cords).
‘See’ is already over but you have three seasons that are definitely worth watching on Apple TV+. A science fiction exercise that remains worthy of the catalog.
