Many models rely on this system, to offer compatibility not only with Android games, but also with all types of applications and emulators. However, most Android-based consoles are underpowered, something we can’t say about the new model presented this week by Anbernic.
Anbernic is already a popular name when it comes to inexpensive consoles, even though its devices are typically based on Nintendo’s Game Boy. However, in recent months the company has expanded, first releasing a model based on Sega consoles and now a model that resembles a miniature Sony PSP or Steam Deck.
New Anbernique RG566 It immediately attracted attention for two reasons: for its design and for its “material”. Concerning the first, it is based on the same general design as the Steam Deck, however with notable differences in ergonomics and size, since it is based on a 5.5 inch screen and will therefore be more easily transportable. The transparent blue color of the case is surprising and reminds us of another time when transparent plastic consoles were common; something that is not a coincidence.

And inside this RG566 there is a Unisoc T820 processor, accompanied by 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM; With eight cores and a Mali-G57 GPU, this combination is enough to run modern games. This was demonstrated by the company itself with a video showing how the RG566 is capable of running native titles for Android such as Genshin Impact, as well as emulated games such as God of War for PlayStation 2. The console does not seems to have no problems when running relatively advanced 3D games, although in some more extreme cases slowdowns are noticeable. However, PS2 games seem to be doing pretty well.
The video is also a good opportunity to see the 5.5-inch OLED screen, which will provide great contrast that will be particularly noticeable in games with dark areas; It is rumored to have 1080p resolution, although this has not been confirmed by the company.
Other important data that has not yet been made public are the price and availability, since the console has not yet been released; But the fact that there are already promotional videos indicates that it shouldn’t be long.
