After several years of testing, and after keeping us in suspense by making it evolve in a hidden way, the long-awaited Coolwalk interface has started to be activated in the Android Auto of a multitude of users. Of course, for the moment with a limitation: only those who are in the beta program have access to the novelty. Want to get in ASAP? An app makes it a little easier for you.
There are several ways to pretest what’s new in your apps. Install an experimental APK, through the groups that various developers maintain for their users and from the Google Play Store itself. The official Android store provides an easy way to access trial software: both from the web and in the mobile application itself. What do you want to try what’s to come? It is often a matter of luck.
Beta Maniac, the app that will help you get Coolwalk
As we said, the new Android Auto interface is only available to those who are in the app’s private beta. Google recently opened said beta, but it didn’t take long for it to fill up. Holes appear intermittently: you should check frequently if there is room for the beta.
Don’t want to check from time to time if the Android Auto beta is free? There’s an app that checks it for you, automatically and with notifications when it detects a shortcoming: manic beta. It works perfectly for what we are looking for, accessing the development version of Android Auto.
That Coolwalk is only in the Android Auto beta implies that the Google account you use to access the system from the car must aim for the experimental phase. In other words, it is not enough for you to install the APK of the Android Auto beta, you must have registered for said beta. This is where Beta Maniac comes into action.
Beta Maniac is an experimental software checker for installed apps: if an app has an open beta, it will let you know
To launch the application, you must perform the following steps:
- Install the Beta Maniac app on your phone.
- Open the app and sign in with your Google account. Beta Maniac needs this information to know if you are already subscribed to a beta, it also allows you to grab any experimental app with just a tap.
- Beta Maniac will analyze the list of apps you have installed and check if they have an open beta on Google Play.
- Search for Android Auto and check its availability. If you are lucky that there are gaps you can register directly with the blue button”Become a tester
- If it’s not available, click the cog wheel on the main screen, top right. Keep selected”Auto control” to have Beta Maniac take care of contacting the Google Play servers looking for a slot for Android Auto. Choose if you want it to connect only via WiFi and the time interval between checks.
- To notify you about Android Auto only, go to the “closed betas” and click the bell icon in the apps you don’t want. Leave only Android Auto notifications active.
Beta Maniac will check availability based on the time you set. And, if it finds a free site, it will let you know so you can sign up. This way you not only avoid manual checks, but also it is much more likely that you will enter the beta: the application can locate the hole shortly after opening it.
Beta Maniac is a free application that contains advertisements. You can remove the ad with an in-app purchase of $2.39.
