Stories like these no longer surprise us, iPhones have proven to be very resistant to very adverse conditions. This new story comes to us from the middle Taiwan News, and tells us that a tourist could get your iPhone 11 Pro Max back after one year under Sun Moon Lake.
Recovering the device was no feat, apparently the area is suffering “Worst drought in over 50 years”, and this drought “has been a blessing for a lucky tourist who was able to salvage a fully functional iPhone that he accidentally dropped in Sun Moon Lake nearly a year ago,” according to the outlet.
In March 2020, a man identified in a Facebook group as “Chen” lost his iPhone 11 Pro Max while paddling on Sun Moon Lake, In Taiwan. The man carried the iPhone in a waterproof plastic bag around his neck, but lost it after falling in the water several times.
However, almost a year later, Chen returned to the lake and, due to the drought, was able to pick up his brand new iPhone 11 Pro Max in perfect condition.
“On April 2, Chen returned to Sun Moon Lake to find out the condition of his phone. Residents told him the spot where he found his phone hadn’t seen the water recede completely in 60 years. “
The the waterproof bag was really dirty, but the iPhone inside was apparently intact. After charging it, Chen said his iPhone 11 Pro Max was working normally.
“I can only say that the waterproof iPhone case is really cool. No water entered it. I am so happy that I got my iPhone back after losing it for so long. “
