A first generation iPhone was sold for an impressive sum.
One of the biggest benefits of Apple devices is that they retain their resale value, however, few would think at first that this device could exceed $35,000. However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an Apple product auctioned off for so much money, with some even reaching half a million dollars.
The most expensive iPhone ever sold
According to a Tweet from Darren Rovell, a first-generation iPhone was sold at auction house RR Auction – which we’ve already talked about for the Apple Items Auction several times – for more than 35 thousand dollarsmaking it the most expensive iPhone in history.

This is a original equipment, in very good condition and still shrink-wrapped. So, if you have an old Apple device, keep it very well, because in the future, you could have a fortune.

As we mentioned before, it’s nothing new to see little pieces of Cupertino company history being sold for quite large sums.
And especially this iPhone, which after its presentation in 2007, marked the starting point of one of the most popular mobiles todaywhile dictating the characteristics and aesthetics of the smart phones.
This device was named “Invention of the Year” by Time magazine in 2007for this statement, the magazine gave two reasons:
- Its design, in the first place, back when the magazine said it was one of the things that most companies didn’t really take seriously.
- The touchscreen, which although Apple was not the first to use this technology, according to the magazine “knew how to use it better than anyone”, indicated that touch was the new way of seeing.
- It’s a “platform”, the iPhone 1 was said to be like a computer that you could take anywhere and use on the go.
- This will improve all competing phones, through contracts and with the aim of outperforming the company; it would mark a before and after in mobile technology.
- Finally, because it would not be the only iPhone and it was only the beginning of a device that would change everyone’s life.
